Shaykh Ali Syed was raised in Surrey, BC and at a young age started memorizing the Quran with local scholars. He then travelled to Karachi, and studied at renown institutes such as Madrasa Ma’arif al-Quran while learning tajwid and completing his memorization of the Holy Qur’an with experienced and well-known Qaris.
Upon the completion of his Tahfiz Ul Quran, he pursued his studies in Islamic sciences. He began the Aalimiyyah program in Faisalabad, Pakistan at Madrastul Husnain, under the instruction and supervision of Maulana Tariq Jamil Sahab. After completing 4 years there, Shaykh Ali Syed then moved back to Surrey to continue his journey for knowledge at Al-Ihsan Education Foundation under Mufti Aasim Rashid Sahab. He studied fiqh, hadith, and tafsir with Mufti Aasim Rashid for three years. With the intent of pursuing higher and advanced education of Hadith, he then traveled to the renowned Islamic College of Bury, UK under the instruction and guidance Shaykh al-Hadith Maulana Yusuf Mutala Sahab. He graduated from Darul Uloom Bury, completing the Aalimiyya Program.
Shaykh Ali Syed then returned to Vancouver and continued his studies with Mufti Aasim Rashid, completing his Takhassus fi al-Fiqh al-Islami (aka Mufti course), and graduated with in March 2013.
Since this time, Shaykh Ali Syed has been serving as an instructor at Al-Ihsan. He has had the honour of teaching several senior level subjects, including Advanced Arabic, Usool al-Fiqh, Al-Hidaya, and more. Shaykh Ali Syed also teaches classes and conducts lectures at local mosques and community centres for the Muslim public.
